I rode to the lake and back(took me 1hr 25min). For the past two weeks I've tried to ride my bike as much as possible. I've ridden to work and back(15 min one way if I take the bike trail), to the store, and just around for exercise. I've played tennis 1-2 times each week.
It's slow going, but I've started dieting and exercising again and have lost 5 lbs already. Yeah me! I have confidence that I can loose weight IF i stick to a plan. I lost 20 lbs before ThanksGiving...then I took a break on the diet (w/ the holidays and the amount of cookies and sweets around) -by January I had gained 8-10 of it back. So I'm now continuing on.
I watched my best friend Lena lose 100 lbs. It was like watching someone shrink. Everytime I saw her she was completely different from the time before. I have wanted to lose this extra weight from the moment I put it on. Everything about me should let it happen...but it hasn't yet. My thyroid level it good..my body is healthy..I have no pains in my back.. I just need to get to work!
Before my thyroid problem was fixed(removed, and adjusted w/ medication) I went to the gym and dieted and nothing happened. -Now my energy is up and..I guess we'll just see if I can continue.
I think it would be easier if I only had to lose 20 or 30 lbs. and be done. It's a short term goal..a few weeks of suffering. My long term goal is 100 lbs...It's hard to see that finish line.. for now I'll just try to make it to my 20-30lb goal.
My short term goal:lose 20(-30?)lbs by the end of July. That's 16 weeks to make it happen. I think it's a do-able goal. I watched a program on TV about a 18 week weightloss challenge. Most people who worked out and dieted lost 30-45lbs in that time. The people that made the most muscle lost the most weight. I don't have a trainer, gym or nutritionist...so I'm making my goal 20(with a hopefull 30)loss.
I want to make it to the top of Half Dome. We've been talking about doing this for a few years.
This is going to be the year!
Shorter hike to Sentinel Dome and the view from Glacier point. July '08:
