Hite Cove

hite cove

For the last few weeks I've been saying we should drive to Hite Cove and hike with the kids. This Sunday we had the day off and I was planning on other things and William, the day before, said we should go now and do the hike. It was perfect timing. This trail isn't open year round. But in the Spring time it's the best trail ever. It's very steep at for most of the way. You definitely don't want to slip and fall to your doom. As you can see from the photos the hills are just covered with wild flowers... All orange in one section, then all white, yellow or purple. I know I posted alot of photos..but I couldn't pick just 1 or 2 ... I don't think I've seen more poppys in one place. We picked one flower of each kind to bring home and press (except we didn't pick any poppys). There were so many different kinds we probably collected 20 flowers. There were butterflys everywhere.
We hiked this trail for the first time with our kids...it's been a few years for us(11?10?). My Mom & Dad would take me here as a kid. I took William when I met him..and now we've taken our kids. Good Times!

Tennis

Today..after everything we've done this weekend...we went to the college to play tennis. (We bought rackets and balls at Play It Again Sports shop) $.40 per ball-not bad. The rackets ranged from $8-$18. They were all used but in good shape.
I have to say that I enjoyed tennis alot. (I was horrible though!) I want to go back tomorrow and the next day. It was a fun family activity...except Riley didn't enjoy it too much(she gave up too soon...she gets mad if it doesn't come easy)
William and Liam were doing pretty good. We stayed for an hour and hit balls off of the court wall.
William and I used to play tennis and racket ball when we were first married... I'm glad we're getting back into it.

Williams Bday

Williams parents have been here with us for the weekend. They've just left. We had a really nice bar-b-q saturday evening. We worked on the grass this morning. Had lunch together today before they left. His birthday is actually on Wednesday..we celebrated early.

new grass in the backyard

Another weekend project...

Strawberries....

I love living in California. Our produce is the best! We grow it..and we have the best of what's available. I love buying fresh local fruit/veggies.

Presidents week -part trois

Saturday night was fairly relaxed. We walked the streets around our hotel. Had dinner at a Pizzeria. We swam in the hotel pool (it was cold outside- the pool was heated to ~70-72 deg. We got to the pool and started swimming just as a conference was starting...buisness people in suits were walking out..
Sleeping was good. It was quiet. The kids went to bed easily--we were all so tired.
Sunday morning packed up and went to breakfast. Rachel left us her leftover city passes. So we decided to go to the Legion of Honour - art museum and the Cable car museum...
We drove first to find the cable car museum...could not find a parking spot anywhere...abandoned that idea and drove to the museum, which, I really enjoyed (even though it wasn't as exciting for the kids..they were good sports though)

It rained all day Sunday... We weren't going to get a break. We drove around and under the road that goes to the Golden Gate Bridge and when we stopped(because of tummys being upset) We were at a vista point and noticed a foot trail that could take us down to the Ocean. Liam was the first to say lets do that... We walked down all the way to the beach.

It was still misty.. we got a little bit wet but it was probably the best part of the trip.
I love spontaneity! To find a trail and explore it is the best way I could ever hope to spend my time..Regardless of the rain. We got to see the ocean up close. We found tidal pools.

The kids drew in the sand... we played for a while. I found lots of starfish and sea urchins and mollusks.

Riley did have a slight freak out with the tide starting to come in --she worried that it was going to overflow(her biggest fear) so that's when it was time to leave..and she was fine once we were on our way back to the car. We all thanked Liam for having this great idea.
