Our 16th Anniversary!!

We celebrated our anniversary today. We surprised the kids with a trip to Great America for the day. It was very fun. We had a full day..I think Will told me that we were there for 9 hours. We stopped at Gilroy to have diner at Mimis. Mimis is my favorite restaurant... but not the Gilroy one. Their building was beautiful but the service was slow and not very good. I think we'll stick to the Modesto, Elk Grove, Sacramento Mimis from now on.
This time last year we were on our backpacking trip in Yosemite....good times.
I think we all had a good day.

We bought the iphone4 for my husband. And had his iPhone turned into my iPhone! I haven't had an iPhone yet so this is new to me and Happy Fathersday to him! It's so awesome! So far my life has been benefited by having it

A bit better

I got ready for a ride and walked around the house for a while, had a cup of coffee..filled up and chilled my water bottle...

Liam asked if he could ride with me, if I wasnt going too far. So we rode bikes around the bike trail once. It was warm but there was a good breeze and most of the trail is in shade. I used that ride as my warm up..(my heart rate didnt get over 110). After our ride together William and the kids went in the pool so I was able to go out by myself and just ride faster.

I listened to the latest episode of The Age Grouper for the first part of my ride then switched to Lady Gaga. It was warm - but not unbearable. I After 90 minuites my left pinky toe started hurting. I rode 2 hours 5 min. and my left foot was the only thing that had pain. My legs feel good.. everything was good, considering It's been a while since I've been on the bike for 2 full hours. My goal wasnt to push it..I just wanted to put the time in and start to build up my workouts.

I jumped in the shower when I got home...and got ready in a half an hour. I had promised the kids I would take them to the movies to see Despicable Me(cute movie). I didnt have time to stretch alot so hopefully I wont be sore tomorrow...

I didnt listen

I went on a bike ride...and it went bad. Before I left I was kind of complaining..my left shoulder hurts from the tetanus shot. The bottom of my right foot has a bruise(from stepping on a power cord in the dark). My garmin watch battery was dead..so I wasn't going to be able to take it with me and the bike computer wasn't reading(which just needed the magnet adjusted) My tires were low. I said I didn't really want to go but I knew if I did I'd feel good afterwards(I always do- this isn't the 1st time I haven't wanted to go exercise)..William talked me into going and pumped up my tires.

So I went.. And I rode fast(especially with tires at the right pressure). I had Metallica on my ipod and I was just riding. 6 miles in I heard, what I thought was a sprinkler turning on right next to me. It was a loud sound and spooked me a bit. A few seconds later my steering was stiff and I realized it was the air escaping from my tire making that loud noise - not a sprinkler. And it was loud enough to hear over the music.

So I started walking. I'm sure I was about 3 miles from home. (I had gone 6 miles but I had gone out and around). I turned my bike around and started walking.. and said to myself 'I should have known that something would happen'.
I used to always carry a little backpack with a pump and never ever used it so stopped carrying it months ago. It's just extra weight. I don't think it would have helped me because the hole was so big...I would have actually had to patch the whole or put on a new tube.

Anyways I ended up walking home. I did had my phone with me and called my husband. He rode his bike to meet me and walked the rest of the way with me. Actually I did a walk/jog. It was dark when we got home.

Forget that last post

I have had the hardest time getting going... I guess I need something to motivate me. I keep googling 5k. I want to sign up for something that will give me a reason to train. Last year I wanted to be in shape to hike up to the top of Half Dome...and I did it. I rode my bike or walked everyday to get ready. My nutrition was good too.

This year I keep starting day 1, day 2, day...nothing. next week start over. The good news is that I recently went to my Dr. and he said I'm 8lbs lighter now than I was this time last year. That's positive..because I was actually less but gained a few back - so I'm happy to be lighter than last year(as long that little needle on the scale keeps going to the right and not the left I'm ok with where I'm at)

So.. when I was googling races and fun runs I found out the Merced has a triathlon in October. I never even knew there was anything like that here. It's a 400 yard swim, which is 8 lengths of the pool, 6 mile bike and 2 mile run.

I actually love swimming - so I think I could swim 8 lengths without dying. 6 miles on the bike is already easy for me...so I just have to be able to run 2 miles.
I'm not sure - it's something I would really like to do, but I'm not sure if I'm at that level yet. I would be the absolute last person! When I think about trying to run a 5k race...I know there are people that walk the whole way so it's "safer". I'm just worried about feeling like I don't look like I belong. And I don't have a road bike yet. It sounds interesting to me..but maybe not this year. The more I think about it, the scarier it sounds.
